Questions

What people ask before they come.

Is this a traditional ashram?

No. It is a small, private family ashram, newly built, where Omji is putting effort into making it more organised, friendly and comfortable to live in. There is no strict regime. When no teaching is going on, you lead your own self-discipline.

How do I get there?

The ashram is in Mohli Harandi, about ten minutes from Sidhpur and from Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Pick-up from the airport or the bus stand is part of every course and retreat, so you do not need to find the way yourself. Write to us before you travel and we arrange it.

Do I have to book ahead?

Yes, for almost everything. Most courses and retreats start on inquiry rather than on a fixed date. Write to Omji first, and when you are both ready, you start. The 200-hour training starts on the 5th of each month, or on inquiry.

How many students are in a group?

Five at most, on purpose. A course can run with as few as one student.

What does a normal day look like?

Each course page shows a typical day. The programme is flexible and adapted to each person, so the day can shift a little.

Are weekends free?

Mostly. Saturday is a half day and Sunday is a full day off.

Is the price on the website the real price?

Yes. Omji keeps one standard price on purpose, so the price on each page is the price.

What is included, and what costs extra?

Included: accommodation, food (meals on free days too), study materials (digital and printed), and airport pick-up and drop-off. Not included: private tours, travel to the ashram, personal expenses and personal clothing.

How does the deposit work?

To hold a place there is a 30% deposit. The rest is paid before you arrive, or in cash on arrival (rupees, euros, pounds or dollars). The deposit stays valid for a year if you need to move your dates.

Which certificate will I get?

Every training gives a certificate from Bhagsu Yoga Institute. The 200-hour training follows Yoga Alliance's standards: Bhagsu Yoga Institute is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS 200, first registered in December 2015), so students who complete it may be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a 200-hour teacher. Omji is registered with Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT 500 (teacher ID 138176) and as a Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). See the school's profile and his own profile.

Can I join while another course is running?

No. Only one course or retreat runs at a time.

What food is served, and can you cater for my diet?

Three meals a day are made for you, mostly vegetarian: homemade Indian food and sometimes Tibetan food, often with a fresh juice in the morning. Meals on free days are included too. Tell Omji about any dietary needs when you write.

Where will I sleep?

Guests stay with the family, in a private or shared room, and most rooms are private. Most have their own bathroom.

Is there a dress code?

Yes, modest and loose clothing: covered shoulders, nothing shorter than the knee, no shorts, and a shirt in class for everyone. The ashram page lists what to wear and what to avoid.

Can I just come for a class?

Yes. Drop-in classes run at the ashram every day at 7:00 and 17:00, when Omji is teaching yoga then. Message him on WhatsApp first so he can organise it. Kundalini and Tantra need a commitment, so they are not drop-in.
